Under our 3R Program, we offer to take-back GH Commercial broadloom carpets, modular carpets, hybrid flooring and vinyl flooring products at the end of their first life, with the aim of facilitating the repurposing or recycling of these products and their diversion from landfill. Where a repurposing or recycling option is not immediately available for a particular product or location, we may store the product pending further investigation of the options for diverting that product from landfill.
The 3R Program is operated on a ‘no-profit’ basis and fees charged for this service are solely for the actual net costs of collection, handling and any cleaning or preparation.Under our ReCover Program, we offer two take-back programs for our products, 3R and Loop, and one additional program for packaging.
3R – Reclaim, Recycle & Reprocess

Loop
The Loop Program gives carpet tiles a second life. Where a customer is installing a GH Commercial product, we offer a service to take back and reuse any existing carpet tiles being replaced. To be eligible, carpet tiles need to be in good condition and prepared and packaged in accordance with the Product Collection Guidelines, they are then collected, graded and reused for their original purpose in a new installation, regardless of manufacturer. Our clientele ranges from charities, schools, price-conscious buyers to environmentally conscious corporate clients. This program truly closes the loop, diverting old products from landfill and using only small amounts of energy in cleaning and transportation. The Loop Program is operated on a ‘no-profit’ basis and any fees charged by GH Commercial are solely to recover any costs of collection, handling and refurbishment which exceed the sales proceeds for the recovered flooring. To be eligible for the Loop Program, this needs to be included in the specification process. For worn-down modular carpet flooring and other types, the 3R Program applies.
Packaging Take Back
We want to ensure that your products arrive safely to your project without damage, as a result we use packaging to protect our carpet rolls and pallets when they are being transported. This packaging is in fact recyclable, and we encourage you to responsibly recycle this packaging through your local council or recycling body. If this service is not available in your local area, you can opt to send the packaging back to us so that we can recycle responsibly on your behalf through our partner GT Recycling. Alternatively, you can opt to have their product packaged without plastic to reduce the plastic usage on orders, to do so, get in touch with your local representative.
GT Fibrecrete
Godfrey Hirst’s manufacturing factories already recycle much of its pre-consumer waste, there was previously no waste stream for unbacked Triexta carpet or fibre. Unlike polypropylene and solution dyed nylon, which can be repolymerised, there is less demand for the partially biobased fibre of Triexta.
