The colourful exploratory space of the Pauline Gandel Children’s Gallery was in need of an update. Utilising our local Designer Jet® precision dye injection technology, we were able to create a range of custom carpets, matching to the existing colour palette.

Here at GH Commercial we are proud to be a flooring partner for the Pauline Gandel’s Children Gallery at the Melbourne Museum. This partnership saw us provide refreshed custom carpet in a range of colours throughout the Children’s Gallery to revitalise the popular space.
The floor of the Children’s Gallery space is a central feature in bringing the play area to life in a cohesive approach. It transforms the area into an engaging and interactive environment, where children are encouraged to move, explore, and play freely. Each colour was thoughtfully installed into specific areas within the Children’s Gallery, enhancing the overall environment of the play space with vibrant and playful tones. Round inserts were meticulously cut into each coloured section, adding additional bursts of colour throughout the space. This creative design element results in a fun and dynamic atmosphere, where children are greeted by a kaleidoscope of colours and patterns on the floor.
Our Designer Jet® carpet is perfectly suited for this setting, offering a soft and comfortable base for the children to play on whilst enabling the bright colourful tones to be integrated into the flooring. This carpet is commercially graded, ensuring that it can withstand the high foot traffic typical of such a lively and busy environment. The carpet not only adds to the aesthetic appeal but also plays a crucial role in the functionality of the space. It provides a durable and safe surface, which is essential for the active play and exploration that children engage in.
The Children’s Gallery is a wondrous place for babies to 5-year-olds to explore, play and learn. The exhibition combines hands-on exploration and discovery, open-ended play-based learning, extraordinary immersive environments and unique museum collection objects.
Budding palaeontologists excavate fossils in our dinosaur dig; aspiring botanists traverse our discovery garden, exploring plants and stories; young curators gaze at our specially selected museum objects, and for everyone who loves to dance, there is a 'camouflage disco' where children will turn into spotty and stripy disco dancing animals. This unique gallery supports families, carers, educators and children to learn together.
Designer Jet® Custom Capabilities
Using precision engineering to inject dye directly into the pile, Designer Jet® print technology is capable of reproducing virtually any image, logo, drawing or motif, in every conceivable colour, creating bespoke carpet suitable for any commercial project application.
