Project Overview
Located in the heart of Perth’s CBD, the Duxton Hotel is a renowned five-star destination recognised for its timeless elegance and exceptional guest experience. As part of a major interior refresh, the hotel sought to elevate its spaces with floorcoverings that spoke to both luxury and locality - combining bespoke aesthetics with enduring performance. Led by interior designer Andrea Webster, the design intent was to root the interiors in Western Australia’s natural identity.
“We wanted to make sure that the design for the carpets included elements of what Perth and WA are famous for - to us, that meant the natural wonders of the land and sea.” explains Andrea.
Tailored Textures Inspired by the Landscape
To reflect the colours and textures of Western Australia’s landscape, GH Commercial collaborated closely with the design team to create custom carpets using our Fast Track® customisation platform. Leveraging this service, bespoke designs were developed from the Elements of Nature and Oceanic Woven Collection, allowing the team to adjust pattern scale, colour and texture to perfectly suit each zone of the hotel.
In the Club Lounge, the Gum Blossom design introduced a distinctive botanical layer. Selected for its organic motifs and strong visual connection to WA’s natural environment, the design provided a soft, flowing contrast to the traditional timber panelling. The result is a space where classic architectural elements are harmoniously balanced with contemporary expression.
Our Oceanic Woven Collection was specified for the Club Rooms and captures the essence of Oceania, drawing inspiration from the natural forms and tonal beauty of the Coral and Tasman Seas. The Elements of Nature Collection is inspired by the organic textures and tones of the Australian landscape and was specified throughout the Corridors, Presidential Suite, Ballroom and Lower Ground Function Areas, establishing a cohesive visual identity deeply rooted in place. Designed locally and made from an 80% wool / 20% synthetic fibre blend, our premium woven carpet delivers a dense, tactile pile that combines luxurious softness with long-lasting resilience.
In the hotel’s standard guest rooms, Hotham – 765 Omeo was chosen for its rich texture, warmth and timeless appeal. Crafted from 100% wool, Hotham offers natural thermal and acoustic insulation, while also delivering a soft, breathable and sustainable flooring option. Its neutral tone provided a calm foundation for the room’s interior styling, bringing understated elegance without distraction.
Built for Luxury, Engineered for Longevity
While aesthetics was key, performance and comfort were equally vital across this high-traffic hospitality environment. The Oceanic Woven Collection’s wool-rich blend delivers excellent resilience and wear resistance, while enhancing acoustic performance and underfoot comfort. In the guest rooms, Hotham’s pure wool composition brings inherent fire resistance, durability and softness - making it a natural choice for a refined, five-star guest experience.
“The quality of the feel underfoot was of equal importance in the specification for this five-star hotel.” notes designer Andrea Webster.
Together, these materials brought depth, warmth and durability to the hotel’s interiors - transforming every room into a sensory, site-responsive experience.
