Set in the quieter suburban streets of Oakleigh East, Amsleigh Park Primary has a population of 330 students. In 2018, Amsleigh Park opened its new Junior Learning Centre, this architecturally designed learning facility offers students an outstanding educational environment.
Baldasso Cortese were chosen as Project Architects for their well known and exceptional experience in education architecture and design. The learning centre includes 8 spacious and attractive areas filled with an abundance of natural light, covered outdoor learning spaces, a reading intervention zone and a range of important support spaces for students and staff.
A selection of carpet tile products from our Mohawk Group brand was used to revamp the school. Pop Icon and Off The Wall were mixed and matched to create this vibrant installation. The colour palette differs across the learning areas, Pop Icon and Off The Wall feature a yellow and pink highlight tile across the various educational spaces, creating a playful classroom atmosphere.
The challenge in educational design can be creating spaces that are adaptable yet also evoke excitement, innovation and inspiration among students and teachers. Colour has been known to enhance memory, performance and one’s visual sense in order to achieve a positive response towards learning.
Amsleigh Park Primary School has received the 2019 Victorian School Design Award for Best School Project between $5 and $10 million. Congratulations to Baldasso Cortese for their outstanding efforts on this project!
