In the heart of Brisbane’s commercial district, the lobby boardroom at 12 Creek Street sets a new benchmark in multifunctional workplace environments. This exceptional space - designed by the creative minds at Bear Space Studio - was envisioned as a highly adaptive destination for meetings, presentations, and wellness activities. It reflects a harmonious blend of aesthetic elegance and high-performance acoustics, rooted in a philosophy that balances imagination and functionality.
Design Vision by Bear Space Studio
As an architecture and interior design practice known for connecting creativity with client collaboration, Bear Space Studio brought their signature passion and personal approach to this project. Their belief in strong partnerships and meaningful dialogue is evident throughout the space - each element crafted not just for beauty or purpose, but as a reflection of the client’s identity and aspirations.
With expertise spanning corporate, retail, residential, and hospitality sectors, Bear Space Studio’s design language is one of cohesion and elegance. At 12 Creek Street, they translated this ethos into a boardroom that is not only versatile and acoustically optimised but deeply expressive of its setting and users.
Elevated Detailing and Sensory Harmony
Echoing the grandeur of the travertine-clad building lobby, the boardroom design integrates refined materials and thoughtful finishes. Walls wrapped in acoustic-printed travertine create a textural continuation from the exterior while enhancing sound absorption. Dual-layered curtains - delicate sheers paired with block-out drapes - offer both visual softness and functional flexibility.
Discreetly integrated televisions maintain a clean visual profile, while concealed lighting adds warmth and dimension, transitioning between warm and cool tones to suit various settings. A bronze curved back panel cleverly conceals an operable wall and, paired with floor-to-ceiling illumination, brings sculptural elegance to the space.
Overhead, a recessed acoustic ceiling frames a bold, blue-painted void with ambient uplighting - drawing the eye upward and amplifying the sense of height and calm. Frameless glazed partitions and acrylic detailing deliver a seamless integration of technology, reinforcing the space’s polished and cohesive design narrative.
Custom Carpet: Pearlsa from the Oceanic Collection
At floor level, the custom-designed carpet - Pearlsa, from our Oceanic Collection - grounds the space in rich, biophilic storytelling. Inspired by the adjacent Brisbane River and the verticality of the ‘Blue Tower,’ the carpet’s deep blue, contour-like patterns echo water currents and organic formations, adding texture, energy, and depth.
Pearlsa is a tribute to the diverse marine systems of the Tasman and Coral Seas. The Oceanic Collection, as a whole, captures everything from the macro scale - stormy seas, coral shelves, sandy stretches - to the micro - sea urchin textures, tidepool patterns, and the shimmer of light on the ocean surface. Designed through a biophilic lens, the range brings the outdoors in, inviting users to feel connected to nature through nuanced, layered design.

Pearlsa was brought to life using our exclusive Designer Jet® technology, a world-class custom carpet solution that transforms intricate patterns and vibrant colours into durable textile surfaces. With unmatched creative freedom, Designer Jet® allows architects and designers to take any image, drawing, or concept and transform it into high-performance carpet - ideal for projects that aim to tell a story and evoke emotion.
Available in a wide range of sizes and texture levels, Designer Jet® is known for its short lead times, small minimums, and boundless potential. At 12 Creek Street, this technology allowed for the realisation of Bear Space Studio’s nuanced creative vision - delivering a flooring solution that unifies the room, supports acoustic performance, and reinforces the identity of the space through colour and form.
