*Enviro Bac Lite® has significantly lower transport associated greenhouse gas emissions per m2 of tiles when compared to our Enviro Bac Plus® carpet tile backing because more tiles can be transported per truck load and because the tiles themselves are lighter. The emissions reduction percentage has been calculated on the basis that a full standard B Double trailer set can accommodate 4,896 m2 of Enviro Bac Lite® carpet tiles weighing a total of 17.23 tonnes, whereas the same trailer set carrying Enviro Bac Plus® can accommodate 3,672m2 of carpet tiles weighing 20.16 tonnes. Using standard LCA methodology for calculating transport emissions (i.e. assuming a straight-line relationship between weight and transport emissions when all other factors such as vehicle size are constant), the increased m2 and reduced volume results in a 35.9% reduction in the nominal greenhouse gas emissions associated with transport.
