Fibre Types

Choosing the right carpet starts with understanding the fibre behind it. In this section, we break down the unique performance, design, and sustainability benefits of the key fibre types we use across our carpet ranges - from our innovative solution dyed nylons like Statron Plus®, Colorstrand®, and Duracolor® Tricor, to the natural warmth and resilience of wool and wool blends. Each fibre offers distinct advantages to suit a variety of project needs, whether you're after durability for heavy foot traffic, vibrant long-lasting colour, or eco-conscious materials with enduring beauty.

Our Statron Plus® yarn is a finer construction featuring increased performance benefits and increased durability due to its higher stitch rate. Statron Plus® has the power to retain exceptional features like colourfast properties and increased stain resistance with added anti-microbial and anti-static treatments, all whilst doing more with less material. We refer to this concept as “dematerialisation” and the ability to manufacture better performing products while using less raw materials is an important strategy in our Believe in Better framework.

The performance standard for every application, Duracolor® Tricor delivers exceptional stain resistance, colourfast properties, durability, colour clarity and enhanced soil performance to commercial interiors. Carpet made with Duracolor® Tricor is easy to maintain and features built-in stain resistance with water-only stain removal for most common stains.

    RESISTANT
    • The high-performance shape of the modified delta improves resilience and reduces surface wear of carpet.
    • Duracolor® Tricor fibre is made using a unique process that creates a negatively charged fibre. Like magnets pushing against common polarity, this provides built in stain resistance as many common stains are also negatively charged.
    • The triangular profile of the filament provides the best soil hiding capability.
    • and controlled light diffusion for clearer, brighter colours.
    • A vast majority of common stain-causing substances can be easily cleaned with just water.
    • Duracolor’s built in stain resistance ensures for long standing stain resistance compared to common topical treatments that are used on most standard SDN products.

    BEAUTIFUL
    • Exceptional colourfastness to light and atmospheric contaminants so colours resist fading and stay bright.
    • Unmatched design flexibility without compromising colour retention or stain resistance.

    SUSTAINABLE
    • Reduce the need for Cleaning Chemicals: Most common stains clean with just water.
    • Declare Red List Free: Duracolor fibre is Declare® Red List Free in accordance with the Living Building Challenge.
    • Lasts Longer: Product life is extended, reducing the impact to your bottom line and to the environment.

Wool carpet adds unmistakable elegance to interior spaces. The natural beauty of wool stems from the inherent complexity of the fibre itself, evolved to protect sheep, no matter the conditions! That’s why we still wear wool, insulate the wool and enjoy working on wool.

      NATURAL INSULATION AND HUMIDITY CONTROL
Wool carpet is a natural insulator, helping to keep your home warm in winter and cool in summer. Because of wool’s natural inbuilt crimp, air is kept in millions of tiny pockets which provide an insulating effect, thus creating a comfortable environment.
The unique properties of wool react to changes in temperature, absorbing and desorbing large qualities of moisture from the air to control humidity. In cold, damp conditions (high relative humidity) moisture is absorbed by wool and heat is given off. In warm dry conditions, moisture is released by wool, resulting in a cooling effect.

      HYPOALLERGENIC
Wool carpet is ideal for allergy and asthma suffers as it does not promote the growth of bacteria, mould and mildew. This reduces the likelihood of spores, mycotoxins and volatile organic compounds from developing in the home, helping to prevent allergies and respiratory problems. Wool fibre also deters the growth of dust mites – the most common single cause of asthma.

      BIODEGRADABLE FIBRE
As a natural resource, wool fibre is biodegradable. When wool fibre is disposed of, it will naturally decompose in soil in a matter of months or years, slowly releasing valuable nutrients back into the earth.

      WOOL BLEND
Wool carpet adds unmistakable elegance to interior spaces. Mixing natural wool fibre with a small portion of synthetic fibre creates excellent twist pile definition, improved durability and reduced shedding from short fibres while maintaining the natural appearance and luxurious feel of wool. In short, our wool blend carpets are designed to look beautiful and stay beautiful for longer.
