Project Overview
Set in the growing suburb of Dakabin in Queensland, the brand-new Dakabin Hotel has been designed to bring people together. More than just a place to eat or drink, the hotel was envisioned as a community anchor - somewhere locals can return to time and again, for everything from family dinners to weekend celebrations.
The design concept focused on creating a space that is welcoming, timeless and adaptable. It needed to be hard-wearing and practical to withstand daily use, while also offering an atmosphere that feels warm and inviting. The result is a venue that encourages people to linger, connect, and make it part of their everyday lives.
Design Highlights
Inside the Dakabin Hotel, the atmosphere is relaxed yet refined. Open, lightfilled spaces are layered with warm timber finishes, lush greenery and soft lighting to strike the perfect balance between comfort and sophistication.
Communal zones flow seamlessly into more intimate areas, allowing the space to cater for a variety of experiences - casual lunches, after-work drinks, family gatherings, or a night out with friends.
The design team approached the project with the goal of creating a sense of belonging, ensuring the hotel feels instantly familiar and approachable while maintaining a polished, modern edge.
Flooring with Style and Strength
Flooring played a pivotal role in realising the design vision. The design team selected Chromatic Cadence and Custom Fast Track® Woven carpet from GH Commercial for their blend of commercial-grade performance and design-led character.
The custom Fast Track® Woven carpet introduces a striking geometric pattern in a warm palette of oranges, terracottas and beiges, drawn from the Hustle and Bustle colour line. These rich, textural tones energise the dining space, adding depth and personality while anchoring the overall aesthetic.
In contrast, the Chromatic Cadence carpet tiles in 373 - Love TKO bring a deep burgundy-rust base to the stage and lounge areas, creating a sense of warmth and intimacy. Their tonal variation and subtle texture provide a refined backdrop that can withstand the demands of high-traffic hospitality spaces.
Both ranges offer exceptional resilience, acoustic comfort and ease of maintenance, ensuring the interiors remain inviting and high performing well into the future.

The flooring serves as the visual and functional foundation of the space, grounding the design and allowing other layers - furniture, lighting, and décor - to shine without competing for attention. It helps to soften acoustics and adds warmth underfoot, enhancing comfort for guests and staff alike.
With their considered textures and enduring quality, Chromatic Cadence and custom Fast Track® Woven have helped shape the Dakabin Hotel into a venue that will remain vibrant, welcoming, and resilient for years to come.
