In the evolving heart of Slacks Creek, Queensland, a bold new coworking space has emerged – The Junction. Designed by Bearspace Studio, this two-level boutique environment redefines how people work, connect, and create. Blending the area’s industrial heritage with a contemporary edge, The Junction introduces a design-forward hub for startups, entrepreneurs, and creative professionals.
Design Vision: A Luxe Industrial Ecosystem
The Junction was conceived as more than just a place to work - it’s a destination where design ignites productivity and innovation. Drawing from Slacks Creek’s industrial DNA, the design uses a moody palette and strong geometries to create an atmosphere of purposeful creativity. Muted cranberry ceilings, mustard-painted brick walls, and black metal detailing establish a bold framework. These are softened by expansive glazing, textured flooring, and timber highlights, creating a balance between grit and refinement.
Connecting Through Design
At The Junction, private and semi-private office suites define the workspace, combining privacy and openness with frameless glass fronts and fluted side panels that let in natural light while providing acoustic separation. Natural timber desks and brass task lighting create warmth, while our carpet tile flooring introduces texture and comfort, softening the industrial edge and supporting long-lasting usability.
The corridors become more than passageways, with graphic LED strip lighting guiding visitors like a continuous pulse, wall murals and imagery sparking themes of motion and exploration, and transparent partitions that maintain a sense of visual connection across the hub.
At the centre, a vibrant kitchen and breakout hub serves as the communal heart of the space. Terrazzo flooring climbs vertical surfaces to form the banquette base, bar front and splashback, adding cohesion and a tactile layer of luxury.
Colour Theory in Motion
Manufactured in Australia using our state-of-the-art Designer Jet® technology, our Colour Theory carpet tiles are designed to infuse commercial spaces with colour and energy. The range offers a versatile spectrum of tones – from soft neutrals to rich, vibrant shades – paired with a subtle, textural finish that allows colour to be the hero. This thoughtful palette makes it easy to layer and zone spaces, bringing warmth, identity and flow to interior environments.
With an extensive palette organised to suit varying foot-traffic requirements, Colour Theory makes it easy to select colours that perform as well as they look. Rated Contract Extra Heavy Duty, Declare® Red List Free and certified ECS Level 4+, the range ensures long-lasting performance and healthier indoor environments.
For this project, three Colour Theory products were chosen:
- 3900 Caramel – A mid-tone neutral anchoring the shared workspaces.
- 5300 Latte – A lighter tone to brighten transitional zones and individual offices.
- 6800 Cranberry – A deep, muted red to tie the flooring to the building’s ceiling and wall accents.
The Junction has become a flagship coworking hub that successfully marries heritage and modernity. Through thoughtful spatial planning, rich materials, and carefully chosen flooring, it delivers an environment that encourages both focus and collaboration – setting a new benchmark for boutique workspaces in Slacks Creek.
